Idea and execution: Times Square Boogie Woogie is inspired by Mondrian’s Boogie Woogie paintings and the night lights at Times Square in New York. Spencer Finch has measured the light with a colorimeter and, from it, compiled a color composition with different long color filters for led light tubes that are precisely shaped in relation to the artificial neon signs on Times Square and to Mondrian’s energy-filled paintings. Each of the artwork’s eleven panels represents a snapshot of a moment.
